<p><b>Nieuwe pagina</b></p><div>Witvis is een verzamelnaam voor verschillende zoetwater-vissoorten die in de Benelux voorkomen en werd al in het Middelnederlands gebruikt. Van oorsprong komt de term witvis waarschijnlijk om alle zilverkleurige zoetwatervissen (met wit vlees) aan te duiden.<br />
<br />
Er bestaat geen duidelijke lijst waarop staat welke vissoort wel en welke vissoort er niet onder de term witvis vallen, maar het vissen op witvis kan eigenlijk gedefinieerd worden als het vissen met een vaste stok, matchhengel, feederhengel of winkle picker.<br />

In de hengelsportwereld verstaat men onder witvis voornamelijk:<br />
